One Saturday morning back in 2008, I went down the stairs to do the dishes, yes, sometimes I also do the dishes… (big smile from a spoiled girl). However there were no dishwashing liquid, so I went down the street to Pick ‘n Pay to buy some.
As I stood in the row to pay for my items at the till, I noticed a lady in front of me. My eyes caught the items that was in her trolley: milk, bread, shoe polish and school books, the basic stuff. The row wasn’t moving and the other two people between me and this lady left to go to the next till. I then realized that this lady did not have enough money to pay for all her groceries. She kept on taking stuff off the list and asked the cashier how much she owed. None of the stuff she took off her list was unnecessary stuff like chocolates and chips, which for me is necessary stuff by the way…
The Holy Spirit moved me and I went forward and asked the cashier to please add my stuff to her bill and I will pay for all of it. I never did something like this before. I paid for her stuff and mine and I quickly walked out of the shop.
Back at home while doing the dishes, I asked the Lord: Why did you make me do that? I clearly heard the Lord say…Faith moves me!! That women knew that she had no money when she walked into that shop, she took items from her list to buy her time…however, she knew the Lord was going to come to her rescue!!! Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
James 2: 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works
The radio was playing and I heard on the news that there was no more tickets left for the Stormers vs. the Bulls game on Newlands that afternoon. The money I used to pay for her groceries I was supposed to use to buy tickets for the game!! My mother was on her way. I had no tickets, I spent the money for the tickets and there were no more tickets left to buy!!
Eish wena…
So I did what I normally do; I went upstairs and I laid down on my bed: “Lord, we have a problem”. As I got ready for my “I don’t know what to do sleep”, my phone rang. “Do you want tickets for the game?”…he did not even say hello!! Yes, Yes!! “I will bring them now”…A friend of mine brought me very nice grand stand tickets. His friend was a bit too drunk from the previous
night’s party and they did not want him to drive to the game so they decided to get rid of his tickets.
I learned the biggest lesson of my life that day. God is moved by faith!! Yes, I bring Him my need and I know He loves me but when I bring Him my faith I also bring Him my worship. I declare that He is able to do what I am asking Him to do!!
I find that most of the time the enemy wants to steel my faith and even though I have all the testimonies that I have I sometimes still doubt!! The more you read the Word of God the more your faith gets build because you get to know Him and his characteristics and the more you step out in faith for little things you develop a history with God and your faith grows!!
Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.
Lets live lives of faith. And it’s not a faith to get stuff but a faith that says I believe you exist and that you are who you say you are!!
Hebrews 11: 6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
