I am a big fan of governance, simply because God is a God of order and one of the first commandments He gave us was to govern (Gen 2:15).The second thing that I am a big fan of is “giving”. Experience has taught me that if you stop giving you stop the flow of blessings in your own life. Jesus also says that it is more blessed to give than to receive (Act 20:35). So here follows two recent stories on governance and giving.
I have made a very good friend and his name is SARS. I met SARS last year in October. Although I should not be paying tax because I am a student and earn under the tax bracket the government still subtracts tax money from my income at the cricket and the little odd jobs I do at the University. I use to not pay attention to any of my RIP5 forms because I reasoned that they can keep the money. I am for the poor and I am for giving and for governance and stuff, so please keep the money SARS and bless someone. Cleary I knew and still don’t know anything about the system. However, last year I heard the Lord speak to me and tell me to go and visit SARS, because SARS has the money that I needed for my trip to Peru. Pure obedience landed me R18 000 in the pocket and a ticket to Peru. I never knew that I had a savings account at the government…lol
After returning from my trip to the USA I received another IRP5 form from the University and yet another from the cricket so I knew it was time to visit my friend SARS again. On top of possibly receiving some money from SARS, I realized that a friendship goes both ways. Therefore I was also looking forward to give SARS what belongs to him. I have been blessed to work at Boland Rugby and they were not deducting tax because I am employed as an independent contractor.
This time I figured that although I might not get any money back from SARS it is still a win-win friendship because I get to put the Word of God into action and I am grateful for our roads and infrastructure. If you travel up north into Africa you would be thankful too. So, there I go, ready to do the big exchange or just to say thank you!!
But SARS the friend that he is decided to bless me once again. I figured that it must be compensation for my presidential duties in the USA …LOL.
Now here is where the story becomes interesting. A week ago I bought a brand new, Canon 650D camera. It is officially my most expensive toy. I am planning to put it to use and further my photography “career” or rather paid hobby. So please if you would like a photo-shoot, let me know!!
Back to SARS and giving and governance…God is faithful. The money I got back from SARS covers the cost of my camera that I bought in faith. My friend Riana asked me if I was sure that I have enough money to buy the camera. I had a plan to cover the cost. A plan that I now know was not from God (I was saving money for something else and wanted to use that money). I have always lived by the motto: I decide and money follows. I never make decisions based on the money that is in my bank account. I make decisions based on the peace inside of me because I am anyways only stewarding what He has entrusted me with.
I cannot wait to earn a lot of money so I can give to SARS and move our relationship to a more mutual one. All in its perfect timing!
Paying your tax is the right thing to do (Matt22:21), no matter what they do with the money; they will stand accountable for that. Give because that is the Kingdom thing to do. Step out in faith and expect God to come through for you no matter what your need or your wants are. He remains faithful.
