All of us have been in situations where we have told ourselves… “This is not me!”
I remember one such situation where it was not just me saying it to myself but where I felt convicted to act!! Many times we just accept what life throws at us, but when we know who we are and who it is that is within us, it becomes difficult to just accept life and let life happen to us.
We are co-creators with Christ. As He spoke things into being so our words have power to bring the things of faith to pass.
Psalm 33:9 “He spoke and it came to be; he commanded and it stood firm.” We have to decide to choose life, as life and death gets presented to us. Deuteronomy 30:19 “This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have
set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” We have to decide to obey Him or not; to act and help where we can or not. Life does not just happen to us!! Fear and hopelessness have an attitude of life just happens…so let’s see.
I am saying NO!!Let’s dream, let’s ask, and let’s step out in faith!! Let’s see Gods kingdom come in and through our lives!! Let’s live life to the full!!
In my first year at university, I had a moment where I had to decide to either just let life happen or to bring life into line with the plans and purposes of God. I went on a weekend church camp, I should probably not have gone and rather studied for the test. It was a predicate test, I think…. I felt that the Lord’ grace will be enough and I would pass, I normally do!! I wrote the test the Monday after the camp. It’s not that I did not study at all, but somehow I just hit a blank in that exam… I did not know what was going on…. Eish!! Results came back….30%!!! you must be joking. I never ever get marks like that… I have never even failed a test before!!!
I looked at those test results and I just could not accept it!! No way!! The Lord’s grace enough. 2 Corinthians 12:9 "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. I did study…like sort off (smiley face) and I attended all my classes.
I went to the lecturer. “Sorry sir, (I gave him my powerful smile- that little girl oops face). I got 30% in the test. I am not sure what
happened but this is not me. I cannot accept this. Is there any way that I can correct this. I know I am asking a lot off you, but I really cannot accept this!! Is there maybe another test that I can write or an assignment that I can do?” He looked at me and smiled. He probably though, who does she think she is? Then he asked: “Where are you from?” I replied: “Wellington, Sir.” He added: “Great place!!” And then…grace entered the room (Not like it wasn’t there). “Just because you are from Wellington, I will give you an assignment to do. But you better sow me what you are made off or the test mark stands.”
I did the assignment. Got 80% for it. He cancelled the 30% like it never happened!!
That’s more like it!! I am an 80% student. Oh yes!! Back in the game.
Big lesson learned…or I should say, many lessons learned.
You can probably also relate this testimony to sin. Sometimes we sin and do things that we should not do. The moment you accept it as part of your identity, you will just continue to do it. Repent, ask for forgiveness. Turn towards God and be who you are!!
So much more to say on this topic, but let the Holy Spirit minister to you!!
Be blessed and be all that God has created you to be!!
