Wow, hectic, sho!!… It’s the circus baby... I was absolutely amazed by the talent of the acrobats and amused by the little clowns but that was not the significance of this event…
On my way to the circus I asked my friend if she has ever been to the circus before. She said that she could not remember. Well, it should have been a significant moment and I am sure you would have remembered it…However, I think we have concluded that today was our first time at the circus.
I do recall a memory of the circus. I think I was about six or seven years old. I remember my dad asking me if I wanted to go to
the circus. Super excited I immediately said yes. I waited for him that whole day. I mean, he asked me if I wanted to go, and he did say that we were going. I could not really understand it. He never came and there was no apology or explanation. Can I conclude that he is a liar, a person whose word cannot be trusted? That little girl’s busy mind went many places and many conclusions were made.
Your yes should be your yes and your no should be your no! Ithink maybe the disappointment of that day made me a person who honours her word. Do to others what you want them to do to you. Fortunately my mother’s yes remains a yes or at least there will be a good explanation for not delivering on her word. And she would communicate that to me!
Today I went to the circus. I had my oldest friend with me. We paid for ourselves. We are grown women now. Woman shaped by events, society, and family but mostly by choice. You choose to forgive, to show grace, to do things differently. We do not really choose what life throws at us, but our response remains our choice. Like they say- when life chucks lemons at you, make
lemonade!
Aside from all the awareness of self and growth – the circus was awesome!! I think I just love to watch people do things that I
know I would never be able to do. I was so stressed by all the tricks of the acrobats. It felt like at any moment something could go wrong and they may die. Well, that was just how it seemed. I was absolutely amazed to see these men and women so in control of their bodies. I recognize the skill and the training behind it and therefore it was worth every cent.
I am blessed to have been made aware of the grace upon my life. The grace to have overcome so many inner conflicts and the grace to have been able to go to the circus and tick it off!!
James 5:12 Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear—not
by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple “Yes”
or “No.” Otherwise you will be condemned.
