Tomorrow is the birthday of my friend and sister in the faith, Ingrid Ruiz. She would have been 41 years old but is unable to share this day with us because a week ago she went to a place where age and years are not counted anymore. My friend Ingrid is in Heaven with her Father and the lover of her soul. Ingrid was out on a mission in the Jungle of Peru when she passed away.
I met Ingrid last year when I was in Peru. We spend New Years together on a church student camp at Playa Rosa. Ingrid was the Campus Pastor at one of our Every Nation Churches in Peru. She mainly researched out to students from St Marco University. On the camp I had the privilege to get to know some of her students. I met so many wealthy people on that camp. Their wealth was largely situated in their Faith. They knew God! They were well disciple and were making disciples. I was blessed beyond measure just by being in the presence of such beautiful people.
I admire Ingrid, a real saint! She always put others before herself and serves without borders. I watched her serve the students on that camp, I watch a woman who lived and understood that everything she does is for God and His glory. Nothing was too much for her and she NEVER played the “pastor-card” that says; please serve me because the woman of God is here. Rather, she served like Jesus served. She must be one of the most humble people I have ever met.
I had a prophesy spoken over me in school that said that I will be going all around the world and that strangers will open their homes for me. When I met Ingrid via email, she was still a stranger and when she answered that I can come to Peru whenever because her doors will always be opened to me, “Mi casa es tu casa” at that moment not only a prophesy was fulfilled but a friend was made. I had the honour to stay with Ingrid for about two weeks. Typical Ingrid, I got to sleep on her bed while she slept on the floor.
I have learned so much from Ingrid and although I only met her last year and spend only a few days with her, we bonded on more than just one level. She became a friend, a sister and a mentor. I am surely going to miss her and especially when I visit Peru again.
I can tell you so much more about Ingrid and all that she achieved but knowing Ingrid she would rather let me say nothing and have her enjoy her rewards in Heaven.
God knew her better than all of us and He knew that she would have wanted to been taken to Him in no other way than in her sleep on the mission field.
I am surely honoured to have known a saint like Ingrid
